Vilamoura
Vilamoura is a planned resort, created in 1965 around its marina — today one of the largest and busiest in Europe, lined with hundreds of restaurants, bars and shops. It's a more organised, quieter destination than neighbouring Albufeira, popular mainly with golfers (five courses plus an academy) and sailing enthusiasts.
Beyond the marina, Vilamoura has four and five-star hotels, a casino, tennis and diving clubs, and the Cerro da Vila Roman Ruins, with mosaics and an ancient bath complex right by the sea.

💡 Local tip: Vilamoura is 10 minutes from Quarteira (local market, a more authentic feel and lower prices) and about 25-30 minutes from Albufeira.
