Albufeira
Albufeira is the most visited tourist destination in the Algarve. It began as a fishing village and has grown, over recent decades, into one of Portugal's largest tourist hubs, with about 30km of coastline and over 20 beaches — including Praia da Falésia, with its golden cliffs and often ranked among the best beaches in the country.
The town is split between the old town, with narrow streets and whitewashed houses, and the area known as "the Strip", full of bars, clubs and nightlife that draws visitors from across Europe. It is also one of the Algarve's municipalities with the largest resident international community.
